I’ll try to be as precise as possible, because if you’re like me, then you’ve probably got some last-minute holiday shopping to do. When struggling to find the perfect gift, it’s important to remember to shop local and support small businesses, especially this year.
But you’re here for the entertainment:
Taylor Swift’s ninth album, evermore, sold over one million copies in less than one week! Ed Sheeran briefly returned to the music scene to release his track “Afterglow” then returned to “dad land.” If you can’t find a PlayStation 5, it’s probably because Cardi B has 11. And finally, Gigi Hadid is making me want to talk about celebs going for walks – have you seen her strut on the sidewalk and her hair?! Forget about casual strolls; I wish my hair looked like that on my best days.
Anyway, before we go online shopping, let’s dive into the rest of the past week’s entertainment news: the good, the bad and everything in between.
Ariana Grande is engaged to real estate agent Dalton Gomez (he sells mansions in L.A.). And if that isn’t good enough news, wait until you hear the fan theory behind the engagement ring. So far it’s just rumours, but Arianators were quick to point out that back in 2014, Ariana tweeted that her Nonna had a ring made for her that included the pearl from her grandpa’s tie pin; her grandpa then passed in July 2014. Presumably, it’s the same pearl (or at least used for inspiration) on her engagement ring. Fans also pointed out that she captioned her Instagram post “Forever n then some” – the same caption on a 2018 tweet including a picture of her grandparents. And if that’s not enough Ariana for you, her documentary excuse me, I love you is now on Netflix.
Lizzo surprised her mom with a car for Christmas and there’s nothing else I have to say about that, except please go and watch her mom’s cute reaction below:
Ryan Reynolds has made it clear that his children won’t be seeing their grandparents this holiday season. That’s not good news; it’s actually pretty sad. However, it’s a good thing to know that some celebrities are taking the pandemic seriously and ensuring that they are keeping their loved ones safe. Poor James, Inez and Betty who are six, four and one respectively, will be stuck spending the holidays with the coolest parents: Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
As if 2020 hasn’t given us enough bad news, Hilary Duff posted the worst information ever, confirming that the Lizzie McGuire reboot would not be happening. As much as I hated to read it, I think she said it best.
Everything in Between
Katy Perry released her music video for “Not the End of the World,” which features her look-alike Zooey Deschanel. The two stars chatted recently on Instagram Live, where Katy admitted to impersonating Zooey during her early pre-fame days in L.A.. Katy said, “Sometimes I would pose as you to get into the club.” Zooey confessed to knowing that, to which Katy seemed shocked. Zooey explained people would say, “’I saw you out! I made eye contact with you!’ And I was like, ‘No!’ And then everybody kept telling me about this girl, Katy. Katy, who looks just like you.”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was on John Krasinski’s web series Some Good News. The wrestler-turned-actor (among his many other roles) dressed up as “Dwanta” to surprise a widowed dad and his kids, as well as others in need of some muscly cheer.
