Let’s dive right into this past week’s news because amid this horrible pandemic, celebrities have been keeping us entertained. Basically, scroll down to see a picture of Drake that left me speechless.
This. Is. Good. News. There might be a story here; something about Drake working out because he had knee surgery and I don’t know why and quite frankly, I don’t care. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but I’m at a loss for them.
What a great week – I have another amazing picture for you, but this one comes with some funny comments. Dwyane Wade turned 39 and posted a nude on Instagram – don’t worry (although you might be more disappointed than worried), his loving wife is blocking all the good parts. However, the absolute best part of this post are the comments left by his children. His 13-year-old daughter commented, “Ayooooo chill, I just got on” and his 18-year-old son seemed to agree, “This isn’t what I wanted to wake up to.”
Well, I don’t know about you (or me), but 2021 is already looking amazing for Cardi B. The rapper has been cast as the lead in an upcoming comedy called Assisted Living. According to Variety, the movie will follow Amber, played by Cardi, a “small-time crook” who runs into some trouble and has to disguise herself as an elderly woman to hide from the cops. Hopefully, by the time the film is released, we’ll be able to leave our homes to watch her on the big screen.
There were some pretty big milestone birthdays to celebrate this past week. James Earl Jones turned 90; the iconic actor told USA Today, “In order for us to heal and move forward, we need to learn to love and respect each other. That will be my wish when I blow out my birthday candles.” Betty White is now one year shy of 100! The 99-year-old actress told The Associated Press she’ll be celebrating with a “hot dog and French fries.” And in true Betty-styled-humour, she joked, “Since I am turning 99, I can stay up as late as I want without asking permission!”
I have nothing super-bad for you – but if you’re really looking for some bad news, turn on the television. You’re bound to stumble upon something.
Everything in Between
This news may be more tailored towards the Gen Z demographic, but I don’t care because I enjoy all types of music and as a High School Musical fan (in every form), I’m in love with Olivia Rodrigo’s new song “Driver’s License.” Apparently, I’m not the only one; the song is breaking records and lifting the semi-newcomer to unthinkable heights. The song gives epic Taylor Swift vibes; the mega superstar even reached out to Olivia saying, “that’s my baby.” In true Taylor-fashion, Olivia supposedly wrote the song about a recent love triangle between her and a fellow castmate – highschool drama – I love it! If you haven’t heard of Olivia (I’m sure you will soon), let me quickly tell you what I know about her: she was on Disney Channel’s Bizaardvark and now she stars in the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and I’m impatiently waiting for season two. Seriously, if you haven’t heard “Drivers License” – you might be the only one.
According to TMZ, Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas (who?) are finito. There’s a lot of boring stuff happening in this story, like an amicable split. Ben has had many other interesting and public romances. Anyone remember Bennifer, the first? Yes, Ben and Jennifer Lopez had a whirlwind romance filled with make-out sessions on a yacht and in her music video. More recently, Ben spoke on The Hollywood Reporter‘s “Awards Chatter” podcast and reminisced about tough times with the superstar. He recalled extreme racism and sexism towards J. Lo – that wouldn’t be tolerated today. Anyway, Bennifer II was a little more successful; though it didn’t last, Ben and Jennifer Garner had three children together and seem to co-parent quite efficiently.
