Entertainment News Weekly Roundup: The Good, The Bad & Everything In Between

I don’t know about you, but I find it odd when celebrities complain. I’m not saying they can’t have a bad day or go through tough times. And truthfully, sometimes their struggles are relatable – Chrissy Teigen’s openness with breastfeeding, as well as miscarriage, have helped normalize vulnerability and grieving. That being said, when Chrissy is willing to openly discuss her personal issues with her fans, it never comes across as complaining, at least I’ve never thought of it like that.

However, every now and then, a random celebrity will throw themselves into the mix and do one of two things: they will either complain about something miniscule in the grand scheme of the world’s problems or they all of a sudden have some major debacle that may even align with their new movie coming out.

Regardless of the struggle, my main issue with celebs complaining is that, a huge portion of the time, they’ve got the money to deal with their problems. For example, a celeb has an addiction problem – simple solution: rehab. If only we all had the money to check into a lavish place that could aid in healthy choices. But of course, that’s a topic for another article.

We’re here for this week’s entertainment news, and that’s what we shall get; here is the good, the bad and everything in between.

The Good

Halsey surprised us all with a pregnancy announcement on Instagram. The 26-year-old singer posted a few stunning photos of herself showing off her baby bump. She tagged screenwriter Alev Aydin and though it’s not confirmed, many are speculating that it reveals the identity of her baby’s father. Alev commented on the post, “Heart so full, I love you, sweetness,” to which Halsey responded, “I love you!!!!! And I love this mini human already!” We’re so excited and happy for Halsey and her rainbow baby!

It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from Eva Mendes, which is unsurprising since we’re pretty familiar with how private the actress and Ryan Gosling keep their family life. However, it seems like Eva is keeping up with social media – well, until now. She posted a reminder on Instagram from Latinx Parenting that encourages raising empowered children. Eva let her followers know that she hasn’t posted recently due to her youngest daughter calling her out for being on her phone too much. Kudos to Eva and Ryan for raising brave girls who speak their minds.

Demi Lovato has been through a lot over the past few years, but it seems like the superstar is ready to get back to work. The 28-year-old will be returning to our television screens (Did you know she was on Barney & Friends with Selena Gomez?) when she stars in NBC’s Hungry, which she’ll also executive produce. The single-camera comedy will follow a group of friends in a food issues group. We can’t wait to watch!

The Bad

Alicia Keys turned 40! This isn’t bad news at all – except for the fact that she looks better than I did at 20 years old. Happy birthday to an amazing superstar and activist! We love Alicia and her loving husband Swizz Beatz, who also wrote the most beautiful caption on Instagram for his wife’s milestone birthday. Then, he posted another one, and another.  Again, this isn’t bad news at all – except for the fact that I’m jealous of them. Look at how happy she is; I’m envious!

Mossimo Giannulli, fashion designer and husband of Lori Loughlin (better known as Aunt Becky from Full House), was denied early prison release from his five-month sentence. The pair was caught up in the college admission scandal; they pleaded guilty to paying $500,000 for admission to the University of Southern California for their two children; it was basically a bribe. In my personal opinion, the good news: he was denied release; the bad news: he (and his lawyers) probably thought he could buy his way out of this mess. Has no one learned their lesson? Anyway, according to Variety, the judge who denied the motion seemed to agree that celebrities shouldn’t get a pass. In fact, Judge Nathaniel Gorton’s denial was based on the sentence being set to “dissuade and deter others who may, like Giannulli, believe that because they can afford it, they can flout the law.” Mossimo is set to be released in April.

Everything in Between

Steve Harvey (finally) commented on his daughter’s new boyfriend – well, it hasn’t been that long, but I think we were all wondering what he thinks of Lori Harvey’s relationship with Michael B. Jordan. Of course, he said mostly nice things – as if anyone could have anything bad to say about People’s Sexiest Man Alive. However, he did say there was one thing he told Michael that he tells all “the boyfriends.” On iHeartRadio’s The Steve Harvey Morning Show, he said, “I say to all of ’em, ‘I might like you, I might approve of you, but I got a thumb-size section of my heart filled with nothing but pure hatred for your ass. Just in case I need it.’” Steve also joked, “Cause, you ain’t the sexiest man in the world to me!”

You know Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – who doesn’t? We love him in movies, TV shows, the WWE – we basically love everything he does. He’s also a famous #girldad and proudly celebrates the females in his life. It’s often hard to picture such a massively muscular dude being gentle with his young daughters, but he constantly surprises us. Recently, he posted some pictures of himself doing his daughter’s hair. I think the pictures speak for themselves, but I will say that Dwayne Mr. Golden Hands’ caption is the best part.
