Entertainment News Weekly Roundup: The Good, the Bad & Everything in Between

WHAT A WEEK. There has been so much good, some bad and definitely a lot of random stuff in between. From Kim K turning 40 to Chrissy opening up about losing her baby and of course, the never-ending political entertainment; this week has been action-packed.

Just before we ring in a Halloween like no other, let’s take a minute to relax, sit back, grab your favourite beverage and let us fill you in on the week’s entertainment.

The Good

This is the Halloween news we’ve been waiting for – Bette Midler confirmed that Disney will be giving us a sequel to 1993’s Hocus Pocus. She also confirmed that the three original Sanderson sisters would be coming back including herself, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. The film will be directed by Adam Shankman and released on Disney+.

Another blast from the past; Saved By The Bell is getting a reboot and honestly, the trailer is giving me some serious feels about being back at Bayside. While Screech is nowhere to be seen, most of the gang seems to be back including Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkeley) and A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez) as Bayside faculty, California governor Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and his one and only Mrs. Kelly Kapowski-Morris (Tiffani Thiessen). Take me back to simpler days!

Gwen Stefani and Blake Sheton are engaged! It feels like it’s been forever since they started co-judging on The Voice and also an eternity in Hollywood years that they’ve been dating – five years! They two confirmed their engagement on social media with Blake posting, “Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020… And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!”

Lizzie McGuire Hilary Duff revealed on Instagram that she and husband Matthew Koma are expecting their second child together. The couple are already parents to 2-year-old Banks and Hilary’s 8-year-old son Luca, from her previous marriage to former NHL star Mike Comrie.

The Bad

As Kourtney Kardashian once famously said, “Kim, there’s people that are dying.” At the time that it was said, she was referring to Kim’s whining about losing an earring, but the statement stands true today. Of course, we would love to wish Kim Kardashian a happy 40th birthday. However, it’s her birthday plans that have her in (literal) heat this past week. She quarantined some friends and jet-set them all to a private island where they could share the company of each other and pretend life is normal and there’s no pandemic. Cool, we’ll all be here when they get back, still stuck in this rut of a pandemic. I’m not jealous, you are! At least, we got a meme out of it.

Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, aka super cool girl dad, was injured at the gym recently, but not to worry, as he seemed extremely less than worried. He recorded himself with some blood dripping down the side of his face, admitting that sometimes things get intense. Then, he wiped some of the blood off, tasted it and said, “That’s good. That’s real good. Back to work.” I’m glad he’s fine, but I’m also a bit grossed out and need to share the moment so we can be grossed out together.

Everything in Between

Chrissy Teigen has opened up about her recent experience with losing her baby, Jack. There’s a lot to unfold as she bravely and eloquently advocates for herself and others who may have experienced pregnancy loss or been in similar situations. In an article for Medium, she detailed her journey and raw emotions and to anyone interested, she bares it all, in the genuine Chrissy-signature style of honesty and openness.

You may recall that last week we discussed Shaq’s first time voting in 2020. Buzzfeed released a list of some other celebrities who are voting for the first time in the coming election for the President of the United States. It’s an interesting and confusing list. It’s astounding how many are voting for the first time. It’s not all horrible reasons; many are voting for the first time as American citizens, such as Canadian-born Ryan Reynolds and London native Gregg Sulkin. There are also a few youngsters who have recently hit the legal voting age, such as Yara Shahidi and Joey King. However, there are some questionable first-time voters, who are huge advocates for the coming election. Selena Gomez is one of them and explained that until now, she never felt like her vote counted

So, Drake turned 34 and had a birthday party, no big deal. There was a menu for his lucky guests, no big deal, right? Wrong! A photo of the menu is circulating and fans (as well as myself) are wondering about one specific menu item. One of the main courses was Mac ‘n’ Cheese, which again, should be no big deal. However, the ingredients in the dish were a huge deal, including sun dried tomatoes, capers, parsley and RAISINS! Why, raisins? WHY? In other Drake news, the artist also teased a new album, telling IG fans that it will drop in January. Redeemed.
