When it comes to celebrities, privacy is such a complicated issue. Many celebs have managed to maintain private lives or keep parts of their lives out of the public eye; meanwhile others bask in the spotlight. I’m not hating, but are the baskers (totally just made up that word) allowed to specify when and which parts of their lives should remain private? Is it all a publicity stunt? Do they actually want us (social media trolls included) to judge everything they do while they sit back and relax on a beach? Is this some sort of reverse psychology? I just don’t know!
Who am I to judge what’s news and what is literally just a casual stroll on a random street? Here’s what else I do know: I missed Cardi B in the headlines this week, but I’m pretty sure she’ll be back in the news next week (I can’t wait!). Until then, here’s what’s happening this week; the good, the bad and everything in between.
I lied! Cardi did make an appearance in the headlines this week, but not for one of her signature-style rants. Cardi B collaborated with Reebok to unveil her very own collection and teased us with a look at a pair of sneakers, but in true Cardi-style and theatrics. Watch the video on her Instagram!
Hailey Bieber called out Us Weekly and honestly, good for her! The 23-year-old model took to Instagram to deny (never-ending) pregnancy rumours. She wrote, “Since I know you guys were about to break your lil story Us Weekly, I’m not pregnant.” She went on to urge them to focus on more important issues like the election. Again, good for her.
If you thought Beyonce was an overachiever, well, it seems like her eight-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter is coming for the Queen’s title. Audiobooks are a big deal; she’s the narrator of Matthew A. Cherry’s children’s book Hair Love, He posted a seven-second clip on Twitter and I can’t wait to hear the rest! Did I mention she is eight years old?!
I’m sure you’ve heard the devastating news of the passing of Alex Trebek. The beloved 80-year-old Jeopardy host was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in March 2019. His final episode is set to air on December 25, 2020. Sony Pictures stated, “The show is not announcing plans for a new host at this time.”
Following the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard drama from last week’s news, Johnny has been asked By Warner Brothers to resign from his role in Fantastic Beasts, which he did, as seen on his Instagram. He also confirmed he’s going to appeal the case against the British tabloids; speaking his truth that he’s not a wife-beater. As you can imagine, some fans are upset (to say the least). They turned to author J.K. Rowling, who knew of the allegations against Johnny two years ago when he was cast in the film. Keep in mind, the author has also been under recent heat for not supporting transgender rights. But wait, there’s more! Here’s the kicker; The Hollywood Reporter claimed Johnny will still receive a huge $10 million in earnings (the full salary), regardless of being in the film or not!
So, after the backlash from Kim’s 40th birthday bash and Kendall’s Halloween/birthday party, Khloe Kardashian spoke about the family’s annual Christmas party and the idea of it being smaller and rapid-testing people (what does that even mean? #poorpeopleproblems). Why don’t they just quarantine for two weeks and fly everyone out for an epic Christmas party that no one will ever forget? I sound salty, don’t I? Let me calm down before I ask this next question about Khloe. Is it irresponsible for Khloe to endorse migraine medication? Are celebrity-sponsored drugs unethical? In my opinion, yes and yes, but that won’t stop them.
Everything in Between
Now that Halloween is over, can we move on to Christmas or is it still too soon? It’s not too soon for NBC. The studio announced its plans for the two-hour theatrical television debut of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical! featuring Glee’s Matthew Morrison as the Grinch. It’s set to air on December 9 from the Troubadour Theatre in London.
In a recent interview with InStyle, Jason Momoa revealed that after getting killed off of Game of Thrones in 2011, he was struggling to pay bills and his family was starving. Jason is married to actress Lisa Bonet and they have two children together. I understand ego and pride, but couldn’t he just ask Lisa’s ex-husband Lenny Kravitz to spot him a $20 for dinner or something? They’re apparently best buds. Not to mention, Lenny and Lisa’s daughter is actress Zoë Kravitz, but then again, she would have been in her early 20s in 2011. Regardless, Jason is obviously doing way better now; he’s Aquaman and he’s booked until 2024!
Anderson Cooper is amazing at what he does; he’s a great reporter/anchor on CNN. All of which made it even funnier when he mispronounced Twitter during live coverage of the U.S. presidential election. Instead of saying Twitter, he accidentally used a rhyming word – Clitter. I’m still laughing! Watch it below.
