FURB Upcycled previewed the collection during New York Fashion Week 2020 at COTERIE, which was met by enthusiasm from industry professionals and retailers alike.
The new collection called “Upcycled – The New Vintage” consists of coats, jackets, vests, scarves, hats, and handbags. Dedicated to sustainable responsibility, the innovative brand upcycles material from discarded garments and re-imagines them into sleek, modern pieces that blend tradition and sustainability. The collection embodies timeless sophistication for a new generation of socially conscious shoppers. The company has made a commitment to diversity by launching its new campaign featuring models of different backgrounds, ages, colors, shapes, and sizes including Amy Lefévre, Grece Ghanem, and Sasha Mei.
The collection showcases five essential women’s outerwear styles ranging from $695 -$1,495 CAD, including a parka with recycled fox fur, an overcoat, a barn coat, a denim jacket, and a vest with interchangeable zip-in fur linings. There are also a variety of accessories including hats and mittens ($25-250), scarves ($595-$695), backpacks ($425-$650), and handbags ($150-$1,100). Each piece is hand-made in Montreal by highly skilled professionals using carefully selected upcycled fur, fine quality Japanese fabrics, elegant details including hand-polished zippers, Italian snaps and cord ends, and hand braided straps and trims.

Early favorite must-haves include the Roslyn clutch/shoulder bag ($450), the Windsor shoulder bag ($1,100), and the Lexington parka ($1,495-$1,695) which is fur-lined and cut with drop shoulders and an oversized fit. While undoubtedly luxurious in looks and comfort, the collection offers good prices made possible by the use of previously-owned fabrics and items. The brand is also producing two men’s jackets that are available with different linings and colorways.
