How Quarantine Can Actually Help You Achieve Your Fitness Goals

At-home fitness has become a huge trend during quarantine. Live streaming and workout videos have become the new go-to for fitness lovers and weight-watchers alike. While gym equipment has seen a 300% growth in a mere 10 weeks. This new fitness-from-home lifestyle has been more significant than ever with people having no choice but to stock up on gym equipment, set up their laptop in their garage and bicep-curl away to their favourite online fitness instructor.

Live streaming workouts, parents needing to be more knowledgeable of fitness for their kids at home, a dramatic economic shift in the current fitness clubs and gyms, augmented reality, and everyone working for the same goals as they are stuck at home -has really become the new norm. These are the new trends we see daily due to COVID-19 completely changing the world as we once knew it. Social media and online fitness packages are rapidly increasing since they are the most convenient and realistic for those now working from home.

In the beginning of March when everyone had to quickly transition into being at home, lots of people were joining the home fitness trend, but if you were one of the many who fell out of their routine during and are still struggling to get back into the groove, don’t feel bad we’re here to help!

If you’re in need of tips, inspiration, or motivation to maintain your at-home workout routine, you’ve come to the right place. 

Here are some tips for working out at home during quarantine:

  1. Make-Do With What You Have at Home. 

If you could not get your hands on the last few dumbbells Walmart had before they quickly sold out of everything, you can easily use random things in your house to substitute as weights. Try filling up a bag with books, water bottles, or heavy items you can find around your house (I actually used a large bag of rice at one point).

  1. Organize, Organize, Organize!!!

Try creating a weekly or monthly schedule to help keep you on track with things and pencil in the best time for you to fit in a quick workout – this will also help you stay productive with other tasks you have going on throughout the day.

Try wearing your favourite workout clothes ahead of time – doing this can help get you in the mood to workout earlier!

  1. Manifest.

Create a mood board of your fitness inspiration/goals (and any other goals too while you’re at it) and hang it up somewhere visible, or replace your phone screen background with it to keep you motivated throughout the day!

Have a workout buddy to complete challenges and monthly goals with and even sometimes facetime or skype with while working out! This can make it more fun and enjoyable and you will help keep each other accountable.

There are a ton of fitness professionals and instructors offering free workout videos and classes online. Do your research and find the best suited for your needs and goals! Just remember that we’re all in this together and it’s never too late to find your own fitness routine!
