Must-See Wine Vineyards!

Warm summer heat and a nice glass of wine are the perfect ingredients for a summer day! Although we can’t travel just yet there are plenty of stunning wine vineyards that are a short drive from Toronto. Ontario makes some of the best wine in the country so why not explore the province’s incredible vineyards and farmlands. We have rounded up the top 5 wine vineyards that are a must-see this summer.

Wherever you decide to go, make sure you and your group are following the provincial reopening restrictions.

Hidden Bench Estate Winery

Located in Beamsville Ontario, this winery produces some of the best white wine in the country. Hidden Bench recently was awarded “Best in Show” at the Decanter World Wine Awards for their 2018 Felseck Vineyard Chardonnay. Currently, they are not offering private tastings or tours in person but their patio is open for groups of six or less under the current guidelines. They do not take reservations so be sure to plan ahead. 

Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery

Built in 1802, Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery is a breathtaking and historical location to visit this summer. This winery is in St. Davids Ontario and is around an hour drive from Toronto. As of June 11th, the restaurant patio seats groups of four and groups of six if all members are in the same household. Reservations are required. However, restrictions are often changing right now as Ontario enters new stages so be sure to check their website for any new updates. Wine tastings are $20 per person and are for up to four people. Farm tours are $25 a person and are around 45 minutes. You can also check out the grocery store on site which sells a variety of locally grown produce and housemade bakery items. 

Holland Marsh Wineries

Located in Newmarket, this is the perfect day trip out of Toronto. Holland Marsh Wineries offers three different tours and tasting options that accommodate a variety of group sizes. This family winery has won national awards for their red and white wines. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. there is live music on their patio. They do not take reservations on their patio. 

Kacaba Vineyards and Winery

Located in Vineland Ontario, this winery is a beautiful spot to visit this summer. Kabaca Vineyards and Winery has won several international and national awards for their wines. This winery does wine tastings throughout the week and has a restaurant with a nice patio. Reservations for the patio are not required but recommended.

If you are looking for more than a day-trip, Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery and Distillery is the perfect option for you. Created by famous hockey player Wayne Gretzky, this is a fantastic place to drink Canadian-made alcohol. Located in Niagara-on-the-Lake this is a breathtaking location for a weekend getaway. While you visit you can stay at the Riverbend Inn, a beautiful old mansion near the winery. Whisky and Ontario beer are just some of the other drinks you can try. You can also take tours of the distillery where you can learn about the distillery equipment and blending process.
