Another day, another pair of sweatpants. It feels as though jeans have become a thing of the past as COVID-19 continues to keep society locked up in their homes. With a strict uniform of hoodies, sweatshirts, oversized tee-shirts, and baggy sweatpants, it’s easy to start feeling rather ‘blah’ about getting dressed for the day. It’s important to feel good about what you’re wearing—whether you’re out and about our cooped up inside. So as we all continue to await the days of brunching, drinking, dining, socializing, and putting together new fits, here’s how to elevate your sweatsuit and feel fabulous at home (or at the grocery store).
The easiest way to give your trackies a more expensive look is to opt for a monochromatic set. Matching your hoodie or sweatshirt to your sweatpants, joggers or leggings reads as a thoughtful and strategic choice. If you’re looking for a more chic and timeless look, keep to neutral colors like white, nude, grey, or black, and if you’re into trends find a bright color like orange or pink to make a statement.
Basics are your best friend, here are some of our favs:
Pro Tip: Play with the fit. If your top is oversized, opt for a jogger that will slim your leg. If you’re wearing a cropped top or tight tank, get cozy in a pair of loose sweatpants. Avoid extremes—as goldilocks says, you’re looking for “juuuust right!”
2. STATEMENT PIECE
If you’re venturing out into the world, or just want to feel a bit more “put together” in your sweats, add a statement piece to your tracksuit. A go-to piece that insta-bloggers and celebrities like Hailey Bieber are LOVING right now is an oversized jacket. Go for a thick plaid jacket-shirt to keep it casual, a leather jacket for an edgy flair, or our favorite, a patterned blazer/long pea coat for a timeless look. Mixing and matching of uber casual and classic staples is a fun and exciting way to elevate your #OOTD. You could also opt for a chunky sneaker or patent pair of motorcycle boots to add an interesting element to a monochromatic fit.

Accessories truly pull an outfit together—and are SO fun. Play around with jewelry, sunglasses, purses, or hats to add a little bit of you to your look! Jewelry is a great way to spice up a tracksuit and give an expensive feel. Layer necklaces and rings to feel lavish and always throw on a pair of gold hoop earrings—and absolute MUST-HAVE!
Sunglasses can also add to an easy model-off-duty sweatsuit vibe. Add a chic pair of vintage sunnies or oversized aviators to take your look to the next level. Pair your fit with a simple purse in a great style. The Dior Saddle Bag is having a moment right now—but for a more affordable and easy-to-wear option, stick to a small shoulder or baguette bag, like this SheIn Crocodile Baguette Bag ($12). For a more trendy look, find a chic fanny pack and wear cross-body style. If you’re all about comfort, choose a mini-backpack that can be worn low on the back or carried in your hand. Baseball hats and beanies can also be a fun addition to your look—especially when you’re on day 3 hair. Accessories are meant to be fun and personal, so do you!
Just because you may be stuck at home does not mean that you shouldn’t look and feel your best! Elevate your stay-at-home fit by pulling together a sleek, glowy, glam look. Pull your hair back into a low pony or bun with a center part. Hairspray or gel down any flyaways for a perfect, polished feel. Add some fun pearl-embellished clips for a sweet and fun look.
If you’re feeling up for it, throw on a small bit of concealer, bronzer, cream blush, brow gel, and mascara. Add some color on the eyes if you’re looking for a more trendy look and dust on some eyeshadow—editorial style. Finish your face with a nude lip liner and a swipe of lip gloss for the ultimate barely-there makeup look.
COVID-19 may have us fashionistas locked up, but there is no reason we shouldn’t feel like boss babes in our own homes. Enjoy having some extra time to put together looks that YOU love. You don’t have to compromise your style for comfort! Enjoy chilling at home in sweatpants—fabulously! #OOTD
