Dior's Fall 2021

Presented on the runway in Shanghai, Dior’s Fall 2021 collection features a total of 75 looks. Designed and curated by Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, this fun collection was inspired by pop culture using light, movement, and disco colours to bring out attitude and personality.

After coming out of a year-long lockdown due to the pandemic, fashion needed to be up-lifting, full of life, light, playfulness, and attitude; and this is exactly what Dior did. Throughout this collection, we are seeing a consistent theme of hyper-colours, skirt suits, bomber jackets, jumpsuits, fun patterns & prints, shine, embroidery and transparency. Different from previous seasons, this collection outlines a new and playful take on Fall trends.

This year we notice Dior pivot towards bright, shiny and metallic colours such as silver, gold, lime, raspberry red, pink, and deep blue. These vibrant colours also appeared through the reflective, disco and circular sequins that were seen on a variety of looks. Not only are the hyper-colours consistent throughout Dior’s fall line this year, but other colours such as deep blue, raspberry red, beige, and gray are displayed in many other designs as well. Turning eyes with vibrant pops of colours, Dior is bringing a refreshing new take to the new season.

With the fun this collection brings to the table, Dior ensured statement prints, and cheerful motifs were the driving forces throughout. That being said, leopard print, T-rex print, heart motifs, and technicolour checks contribute in making the designs animated, and playful. Naturally, Dior would not have completed their collection without including their signature staple, the Dior Oblique motif.

Among these styles, a variety of contrasting materials are put together including, delicately placed circular sequin, tulle, chiffon, technical mesh, gradient denim, and more.

Shifting from their usual dress codes, Dior’s Fall 2021 collection captures the energy and lightness that the world is feeling coming out of a lockdown. The tone is being set for the upcoming season, and we can’t get enough. Tell us, what are your thoughts?
