Southwest Arkansas – nothing like a girlfriend’s getaway!

There is nothing better than going away on a girl’s trip with your best friends. Everyone in your group may want to experience something different while on vacation so it becomes important to choose a destination that checks off all the boxes. Southwest Arkansas does just that! From several pristine lakes, the Ouachita National Forest, natural hot springs, spas, scenic byways, horse racing and even a chance to dig for diamonds! You might not plan a girlfriend’s getaway right away but we are here to help you plan your trip to Southwest Arkansas ahead of time so you can keep it at the forefront of your mind.

Day 1:

Tucked away in the Ouachita Mountains of Southwest Arkansas, Hot Springs National Park is an oasis like no other. Known for its 47 thermal springs, this national park is the nation’s oldest, predating Yellowstone by 40 years. Features more than 30 miles of hiking trails through the glorious Ouachita Mountains, scenic drives, hot water cascade, picnic areas and campsites. Start the weekend with lunch at a local favorite, McClard’s Bar-B-Q followed by a dip in the healing thermal waters of the Spa City. Stay in a restored bathhouse on Historic Bathhouse Row, have dinner and a drink at The Vault with Al Capone and dance the night away to live music.

Day 2:

After a fun and relaxing night with the girls, get your hands dirty at the world’s only public diamond mine at Crater of Diamonds State Park. Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro is the world’s only diamond-producing site open to the public. Visitors can dig for diamonds and keep whatever they find! The largest diamond ever discovered in the United States was unearthed here in 1924 and visitors still find notable diamonds regularly.

Day 3:

Explore galleries, drink craft beer in downtown hot springs, and check out an eclectic shopping scene. Stroll through historic downtown Hot Springs for fashionable boutiques, jewelry stores, and fine art galleries. Antique dealers offer large lots of period furniture, vintage clothing, housewares, and collectibles. Not to be missed is Superior Bathhouse Brewery, a family-friendly restaurant, and a craft beer tasting room, operated in a historic bathhouse. Unique in that it is the only brewery in a U.S. National Park and the only brewery in the world to utilize thermal spring water as the main ingredient!
