The best Halloween movies to marathon this weekend!

It’s that time of year again! Whether you’re here for the candy, costumes, or a good scare, your Halloween festivities may look a little different this year. What better way to celebrate the holiday than with a movie marathon? With only a few days left until Halloween, it’s time to get cozy and watch the plethora of classic spooky movies available on Netflix and other streaming services. Halloweentown (1998)

Made in 1998, this is the first installment of the Halloweentown series. This movie tells the story of 13-year-old Marnie and her family of witches and warlocks. With the help of her siblings, she goes on an adventure to save Halloweentown. Although there are three other parts to this series, the original is definitely our favourite! Hocus Pocus (1993)

If you want to get nostalgic, then this family-friendly movie is the perfect treat to watch this Halloween. Hocus Pocus follows a trio of witches played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. They are accidentally resurrected by a teenage boy and set out to reclaim their youth. This film is absolutely iconic and such a fun way to get into the spirit of Halloween with friends, family, or a night in to enjoy by yourself! Twitches (2005)

This film has a little bit of everything for our Halloween lovers! Based on a book series, this fun and heartwarming story is a Disney Channel staple. Twitches tells the story of Alex and Camryn, twin sisters who were separated at birth. The teen witches meet on their 21st birthday and use their powers to save their birth mother and the magical land of Coventry. Beetlejuice (1988)

Nothing quite gets us in the spirit of Halloween like this all time classic does! Directed by Tim Burton, Beetlejuice follows the story of Adam and Barbara, a recently deceased couple who attempt to scare away a rude family that moves into their home. They seek the help of the devious poltergeist, Betelgeuse, played by Micheal Keaton. Starring Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara, and Winona Ryder, this oscar-winning movie is a must-see! The Addams Family (1991)

Feel the Halloween nostalgia with this movie! Based on a comic series created by Charles Addams, this film is the first of the franchise. While there have been many adaptations, there’s nothing quite like the original! This classic movie tells the story of a bizarre family who reconnects with what they believe to be a long-lost relative. When they begin to suspect the so-called relative is a fraud, they must work to protect the family house and fortune. Enjoy your Halloween weekend by streaming this film on Netflix!

Ghostbusters (1984)

Last but not least on the roundup list is Ghostbusters! Not only does this film have a super catchy theme song, but it offers something for everyone. This supernatural comedy follows three scientists who start a ghost-catching business in New York City. The comedic trio faces an infestation of ghosts and creatures and must defeat a shape-shifting demi-god trying to destroy the city.
