The Top Places to Solo Travel to This Summer

It’s finally summer and there’s nothing like a solo trip to reconnect with yourself! Whether it’s because no one else is up for a trip or because you decided to travel last minute, we want to make sure you only have the top places on your list to solo travel this summer!

Paris, France

At least for the summer, romanticize your life! And there’s no better place to do this other than Paris. Because it’s an extremely walkable city, it’s perfect to explore on your own, with your own itinerary and your own schedule. Transportation is quite affordable and you can get a museum pass to enjoy all the possibilities the city has to offer, such as the Louvre Museum, Musée d’Orsay, or Centre Pompidou. Also, if you need some resting time between all the walking, nothing like a bottle of wine, a baguette and the Seine. Bottom line, there’s a lot to do in Paris, and with such a lively city, you will never be truly alone.

San Diego, California

If you want to stay closer to home, San Diego is a great place with a lot of options for solo travelers. Whether you want to enjoy the beach, go shopping, go hiking, or enjoy the nightlife, there’s always something to do and somewhere to go in San Diego. Plus, if you’re a fan of comics, make sure to book your trip for July, so you can attend Comic-Con International, the largest annual convention of comics and pop culture in the United States.

Asheville, North Carolina

If you’re looking for an underrated place, Asheville is a great spot to travel to. This art-focused mountain destination offers not only over 30 art galleries to visit, but also numerous opportunities for solo hiking, biking, kayaking and fishing. It’s also a great place to explore breweries and restaurants, as it has a growing culinary scene. Either way, you have many activities to do in the city and it’s a great spot to take some time for yourself.

Whitehorse, Canada

Whitehorse is a small and isolated place, usually quite cold. However, these characteristics are exactly why the locals are so welcoming to tourists. This destination has many options for activities, such as hiking, kayaking, and much more. This is the place you go to for some alone time (and if you want to feel like you’re in a Netflix rom-com).

Dublin, Ireland

A welcoming city, especially for solo female travelers, is Dublin. You can get to know the city in just a few days and every single one of them will be worth it. Easy and friendly, the city has beautiful architecture, lots of street musicians, and numerous museums and historical spots to visit, everything by foot. At night, enjoy yourself and make friends from all over the world in one of the many bars in Dublin’s Temple Bar neighborhood.

If you’re on a budget, but still want to go abroad, Uruguay is a great option not only because of the currency but also because it’s very safe for solo female travelers. This small country is very welcoming to tourists and has many activities to choose from. However, if you want to relax at the beach, try Punta del Este, where you’ll find great resorts with gorgeous beaches, monuments and spots to relax. You can also try Colonia del Sacramento, a smaller region with lots of history and charm.

Iceland is undoubtedly the perfect spot for solo female travelers. With beautiful nature from active volcanos to towering glaciers, there’s a lot to admire in the country. The capital, Reykjavík, has a lot of museums and street tours, although the rural landscape is the one that will have you in awe. The best option is to take tours with groups. Those will take you to the natural wonders by bus or by car. A few of the unmissable spots to visit are the blue lagoon, Gullfoss waterfall, Skogafoss waterfall, and Lake Myvatn Geothermal Area.

With so many options for solo travel, it may be hard to choose just one of them for this summer. But even if you have to go somewhere closer for now, you can build up a list of places for upcoming summers so you don’t miss any of these amazing locations. Either way, we hope we were able to give you some amazing options for your next solo adventure!
