Sustainability: the buzzword of the year and my favourite, for a good reason!
Whether you are an animal-lover, a tree-hugger, or simply a kind and compassionate person, sustainability can be incorporated into our everyday life with simple alternatives.
There are so many ways to be an advocate for the planet, from the way we eat to the way we dress; and being an environmentally-friendly shopper doesn’t mean that you have to wear hand-me-downs from the 70s all the time (not that it’s a bad thing). Sustainable fashion could also mean wearing new clothes from stores that support ethics such as fair wages for workers, as well as sustainable materials and methods of design.
These sustainable practices can also be encompassed by the term vegan, which extends beyond our food and cosmetic choices! Vegan alternatives also come in the form of leather, suede, and fur – and not just the cheap kind that is “naturally” animal-free. I’m talking about good-quality, possibly hand-made, fashionable clothes, and accessories, that are good for the planet and don’t involve us wearing animals.
This said, being fashionable and ethical doesn’t have to exclude the little ones: they are attached to your hip after all!
